Caroline and Andrew Gilbert welcome you to Magpies a family run Restaurant, with three luxury en-suite rooms.
Set in a row of black and cream cottages, an elegant duck egg blue and cream decor, crisp white linen, silver candlesticks and fresh flowers evoke an intimate and relaxed atmosphere to compliment the fine dining experience. Enjoy an aperitif on the small patio on balmy summer evenings or the warmth of the wood burning stove on chilly winters nights.
Andrew is Head Chef and his passion and enthusiasm are reflected in the quality of the menu, care is taken to source ingredients locally, wherever possible. Caroline creates delicious desserts and runs front of house. Service is formal and attentive but delivered in a friendly and relaxed style.

Caroline and Andrew Gilbert’s Horncastle hideaway is a personification of an English provincial restaurant full of warmth, honest intent and gastronomic pleasures.
Andrew uses high quality locally sourced seasonal produce for creating his menus and these are sample menus that indicate the style of dishes that Magpies Restaurant offers. Magpies extensive wine list is a treat for all and has been awarded the Waitrose Good Food Guide symbol for an outstanding wine list (Prices start from £16.35).
Magpies dining room is elegant and our guests are smartly dressed. We do not insist
on a jacket and tie but we do ask that our guests do not wear Trainers shorts or sportswear.
Everything is freshly prepared on the premises by Andrew and his small team and we endeavour to accommodate our Guests dietary requirements whenever possible.
We have no age restrictions on children dining in our restaurant. But we do appreciate
well behaved children and encourage younger guests to dine at lunchtime.

Magpies is in the perfect location for those who enjoy golf, antiques, nature and walking.
The area is ideal for those who enjoy a variety of activities, there is a golf club in Horncastle and Louth (15 miles) and the renowned golf course at Woodhall Spa (5 miles). For those who appreciate antiques Horncastle is one of the main centres along with nearby Helmswell and Swinderby. The Viking Way passes through Horncastle, starting at Oakham and finishing at the Humber Bridge and the old railway track from Woodhall Spa to Horncastle has also been re-opened as a nature trail with works of art along the way. The coast is to the east with seaside resorts such as Skegness, Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-sea(21miles). If you feel like shopping head to Lincoln (20 miles) where there is also the magnificent Cathedral, Castle and Joseph Banks Centre at the Lawn near the castle.
Cadwell Park race track is located 10 miles north of Horncastle, It is renown for the British Super Bikes, Vintage, Classic bike and Car events.

Arrivals and departures Guests are asked to leave their room between 10.00am and 10.30am. Housekeeping is usually done by 100pm and your room will normally be available by this time.
